VP AREA 13
HEIDI MURRY

CHAPTER: Plato FFA
HOMETOWN: Plato, Missouri
COLLEGE: College of the Ozarks
COLLEGE MAJOR:
Double major in Agriculture and Communications

SAE PROJECT:
My SAE includes a herd of registered Herefords that I show and sell, as well as market steers, lambs and hogs that are exhibited at local county fairs. Additionally, I raise Toy Australian Shepherds and Border Collies with my parents. I have other placement jobs as a farm hand in my area as well.

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO WANT TO BECOME A
MISSOURI FFA OFFICER?

Since my freshman year it has been one of my biggest goals to become a state officer. I wanted to have the opportunity to encourage FFA members to do their best and pursue their dreams. I really hope to be able to give back to the organization that has given me so much.

WHO IS YOUR HERO AND WHY?
My heroes are my four older siblings. They are all so incredible and different from each other. Each one of them has a great work ethic, and each is full of determination. They have helped teach me what it means to have fun while working and having differences on a team just means bringing different strengths to the table.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE?
After college, I hope to obtain a career with a company in the agriculture industry where I can travel as a company representative or salesman. I will continue to farm, raising cattle and dogs.

WHAT IS SOMETHING UNIQUE OR INTERESTING THAT FEW PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I love to sit and talk with the “old men club” at my town’s gas station. I always leave with a life lesson or a new joke.

ADVICE TO FFA MEMBERS:
What you put into FFA is exactly what you’ll get out of it. So, make the most of FFA while you can and don’t hold back, because your time in the organization will fly by. Trust your teachers; they’re there for you. You’re never too cool to dance at a barnwarming or even act a little goofy. Find a mentor, be a mentor, give the speech, apply for an office, try a contest team that challenges you, make friends and learn something at every contest, and always be you.
